Appreciating the obituary with Mo Rocca

There are some really great dead people.  Mo Rocca helps us remember them in part through his own appreciation of the obituary.

Humorist, journalist and actor Mo Rocca is best known for his off-beat news reports and satirical commentary.  He is a correspondent for CBS Sunday Morning, Rocca and the host of CBS鈥檚 series The Henry Ford鈥檚 Innovation Nation.  The show features stories about some of the world鈥檚 greatest inventions鈥攑ast and present鈥攁nd the effort it took to create them, educating and inspiring audiences with stories of creativity, hard work, and passion.  Rocca created and hosted the Cooking Channel鈥檚 show, My Grandmother鈥檚 Ravioli, in which he learned to cook from grandparents across America.  He is also a frequent panelist on NPR鈥檚 hit weekly quiz show Wait, Wait鈥on鈥檛 Tell Me!

On this episode of 鈥淪tory in the Public Square,鈥 Rocca describes his book, 鈥淢obituaries,鈥 as his 鈥渁ppreciation for someone or something, that didn鈥檛 get the send-off it deserved the first time around or any send-off at all.鈥  He adds, 鈥渁ny good obit writer will tell you that a good obituary is really about someone鈥檚 life, not their death.鈥
